Taking a cue from the increasing menace of e-waste the mall has conceptualized the celebration around the theme of e-waste management. As, a part of the celebration a distinctively designed 10 feet 3D Ganesha art installation made out of spare circuit boards will be placed at the atrium. Touching the feet of the Ganesha will light up idol. Engaging workshops around the e-waste management theme are also a part of the celebration with a sole aim of creating awareness on the hazard of e-waste.
Mr. Surender Pal, Head Retail, Kalpataru Group said: “With technology becoming an inseparable part of our life, we are facing a new challenge of disposing e-waste in an appropriate manner. As per news reports, Mumbai produces 12 crore kg of e-waste in a year and each person generate 9.6 kg of e-waste. Being a responsible part of the society, we have curated interesting workshops for the masses on e-waste management. We are also extending these efforts by installing an e-waste collection center at the mall in association with the Thane Municipal Corporation.”
The installation has been such that it conveys a creative correlation of e-waste fused beautifully for betterment of the society. It took around 4 weeks to complete the idol and the challenging process was to give it the desired shape.
The mall also plans to create synergy amongst young shoppers to tackle the new age e-waste problem by encouraging them to create decorative art form out of existing e-waste in house.
